Strategy Development

Why we offer Strategy Development

We work alongside clients to collaboratively identify and document their strategic priorities.

Our experiences range from single clinical speciality/corporate service strategies, up to multi-organisational and cross-sector system strategies which involve extensive engagement and consultation with a wide range of stakeholders.

The success of our offer is built on:

  • The breath of experiences and skills in our team. Our diverse team bring a wealth of experience from working in different sectors (encompassing different health and care settings including NHS care settings, primary care, local authority, commissioning and VCFSE, as well as private sector expertise) and disciplines (including clinical, operational, communications/engagement, finance and workforce).
  • The skills, expertise andcrucially the fresh perspective and capacity requiredto draw out and capture strategic thinking from leaders who are often mired in operational pressures.
  • Our tried and tested methodology, borne out by our successful delivery and satisfied clients.
  • Our enabling ethos. As an NHS organisation we understand the bigger picture. We work collaboratively and pragmatically with our clients, acting as an honest broker with key stakeholders, and produce deliverable outputs which have a real impact on the population we serve.
  • Our excellent documentation, which encompasses engaging visuals and infographics supported by robust underpinning analysis. We work with our clients to ensure our final outputs meet local style conventions and stakeholder expectations.

Workforce Planning Methodology

We start with a Discovery Phase to bring together insight drawn from stakeholder engagement, document review of policy and best practice, and analysis of key data. During this phase:

  • We perform a structured literature review, which will include looking back to published policy developments/strategic direction, around to best practice, and forward to horizon scan what is coming up.
  • We simultaneously undertake initial stakeholder engagement comprising a blend of semi structured interviews with key stakeholders and wider workshops to draw out their perspectives.
  • We also look to data to help provide insight into key challenges and opportunities.

Informed by this discovery work, we then in our Develop and Refine Phase develop a draft set of priorities to test in with key stakeholders.

We test in the draft priorities using a pre-agreed engagement approach (often a workshop or series of workshops) to refine our thinking and help with prioritisation.

Following this we enter the Drafting Phase where we begin to draft the strategy and supporting visuals. This can also involve developing a high-level implementation roadmap if required.

Throughout we work in partnership, reporting regularly to the SRO or a small steering group to help guide the work and seek sign off on key decisions.
